Who he is: The last survivor of the long dead green martians who once inhabited Mars, the Martian Manhunter, generally referred to as J'Onn by the League members, came to Earth to warn us idiot natives of the alien invasion that was about to befall us; he was imprisoned in a government facility for his good samaritan act but he was able to contact Superman who came to his rescue along with Batman and later brought together the other members of the league - Hawkgirl, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman and Flash - to fight off the invaders. After their victory the Justice League was formed, and Superman offered J'Onn to join, seeing as how he had nowhere else to go. J'Onn possesses the power of flight, super strength and is also a shapeshifter capable of changing his entire molecular structure and telepath; since he comes from an cold planet, he is vulnerable to extreme heat/fire. J'Onn is greatly fascinated by the contradictions of the human race, but despite the efforts of his cohorts to make him feel accepted, he still feels incredibly lonely and spends most of his time on the Watchtower.
