Who he is: A former US soldier and comic book reader, Green Lantern wields a power ring bestowed upon him the Guardians of Oa, who run an intergalactic police force known as the Green Lantern Corps; the ring can chalk up anything the wearer can think of in the form of green matter and can provide protection to its wearer from outer space, deep sea environments and poison gas, but has to be recharged daily in a big green lantern, but even without the ring John is one tough cookie. Though his power is as close to god like as it can get, John is but a cog in a vast machine. John Stewart was chosen by the Guardians for his strong will and no-nonsense attitude, but that same attitude sometimes leads him to butt heads with the other members of the League, whom he feels are less experienced than he is; in particular, he seems to be easily annoyed by the Flash. Early on he developed a love/hate relationship with Hawkgirl, and prior to her he was involved with Katma Tui. Certain events in "Wild Cards" led him to have a discussion with Hawkgirl about their "relationship". He also once tried to explain to Hawkgirl the dynamic of Earth's favorite holiday, Christmas, with varying degrees of success.
